Jamison enjoyed his first day at high school.
We all went to the school with him for a welcome and prayer ceremony which was lovely. Many teachers introduced themselves and spoke about what to expect and how each child will be well looked after. And each of the captains from the feeder schools stood up and brought balloons up to the stage to represent all the kids from the various schools. The Principal spoke about how they recognise that all children are different and that they embrace those differences and nurture and allow each child to 'shine'. The principal certainly spoke much more eloquently and better than I am at the moment and I was suitably impressed with him! The ceremony was finished with two lovely girls from maybe year 10 who sang Vanessa Amarossi's song Shine which was very fitting.
Jamison then met his homeroom teacher and thankfully he is in all classes with his best friend which worked out great and they can both help each other to find their way around. The school is enormous! They had a BBQ lunch, met their peer support leaders from year 10 and then had one lesson before they could then go home!
Today was a bit more overwhelming with all 1000+ kids from year 7-10 at school plus he had to catch the bus and have a full day of classes!! And he said it was a great day so thats good!!!
Capri started back yesterday too.
I must admit it feels funny just having one kid in primary school!! And Capri's highlight is that she is now the note taker!!!! Capri's teacher is beautiful. She's young and energetic and this is her first full time teaching gig since she finished her training last year and Capri loves her..
Brandt's back to school tomorrow. I think he's going to struggle getting back into the swing of things because he has had a VERY SOCIAL holiday!!!!! And at his school he wears long trousers and shirt and tie ALL year long regardless of the weather so that is going to be so tough to get used to again after living in shorts, tshirt and things all Summer.
Now I HAVE to show you these beautiful birthday surprises which have landed in my mail box over the past few days...Firstly from Mardi..she sent me these gorgeous gifts for my birthday...I got these beautiful scented pomander thingys (technical term) which went perfectly in my white washed lantern which sits on my dining table!
