{last day of may}

End of May already. How did that happen? I wanted to get one last post in before we head into June.

Today? Well, I'm off to the movies this morning with Marie - you know, my car smash and then hit by a car friend! She then got really sick with laryngitis(hmm, bad spelling) and we have been planning our movies trip for weeks now but had to keep postponing!

So, finally we are going. Seeing The Upside of Anger. Know nothing about it. Stars Kevin Costner. Marie said she read the review and it sounded good. Hope so.

Then off to lunch. So looking forward to today as its been a rough few weeks but things are so much brighter now :o)

Ah, my favourite day of the weekend. Friday.

A huge CONGRATS to my very best friend Margaret on her job promotion!!!! I'm so proud of you and you so deserve it!!!!

And I have FINALLY finished all my class samples for June and my class descriptions for July. Phew!

One more class sample to go for my June classes.

This one I must credit Erica Glover for. I saw her gorgeous idea in one of the magazines about creating a time capsule layout with envelopes for each of her family members. I thought what a great idea for a class and here is my version:

Each envelope will represent a family member and inside each envelope will be things like hand written notes, receipts, clothing labels and other bits and pieces representing us right at this moment in time. The purpose being, that in say 2,3 or even 5 years time it will be fun to look through each envelope and look back at how we were, right at that time in 2005!

Love that huge fabric flower and the fabric MM letters! I've been sticking those big flowers onto everything lately!

One class to go! Stay tuned.

New class for the store. Shabby Chic 3! all my work lately seems to be pink and green! I need to do something in other colours! Browns, blues, reds, orange or something.

Anyway, here's the sample for my class. Lots of painting, crackle medium, florals, scrunching, sanding and hopefully lots of FUN!

{retreat summary}

Had a GREAT time at the retreat this weekend. Fantastic group of ladies - so lovely, friendly and heaps of fun. Wonderful food. Perfect location opposite Newcastle beach and everything ran smoothly.

Classes were well received. Heaps of giveaways and I got to help out in Mishells canvas class today which was fun.

{rotten luck}

What a week for my close friend Marie.

Firstly, in the torrential rain on Wednesday a HUGE 4WD slammed into the back of her car. She escaped uninjured but the car is a mess and she will be without the car for a minimum of three weeks. While trying to carefully prise open the boot to retrieve her parcels she then cracked the back windscreen.

The next day, yesterday, Marie was picking up Bridie(Capri's friend) from school and was hit by a car (as a pedestrian)! She's fine. A badly injured arm and she's very battered and bruised. To make matters worse, the driver who hit her was the daughter of another good friend of ours.

What a week.

In my quest for quirky button info I stumbled across a whole big button world out there!

There are people who collect buttons - and they aren't scrapbookers! There are people who handpaint teeny, tiny little scenes and pictures on their teeny, tiny little buttons - what patience - check this out tiny little button paintings! and then sell them as collector items.

There are people who travel thousands of miles (much like scrapbookers) to attend button conventions. Heres a recent one held somewhere in the States ... button covention

And then my journey took me to a website where someone paints tiny little paintings for dolls houses. The world is full of arty and crafty people using their talents in a multitude of ways! dolls house paintings

No need to keep searching for button quirky info anymore :o)))) I'm all done. Article finished. Emailed. Phew.

{quirky buttons?}

Ok. I need some help.

I have to find a quirky tip or piece of info on buttons. I'm off to google but if any of you have any useless bits of information on buttons, their origin or something else 'quirky' please feel free to let me know :O)))))))

{today}

Lots of work to get through today with layouts, class notes and articles to be written.

And, very EXCITING - SM came. Capri will be beside herself when she sees the cover.

Dancing this afternoon. 45 minutes of jazz ballet. Capri loves it. Heaps of kids from her class go including Bridie. It's been a sad year for both of them as Bridie has left our school to go to another one so dancing is their chance to catch up with each other.

We get to stay to watch the class which I like. It's amazing to watch their progress. The teeny tiny girls are so gorgeously funny and float around the room, out of time, forgetting their steps but having the BEST time and beaming with pride.

Jamison hates sitting through the class.

His friend Jarrod comes as well to watch his own sister. I overheard a conversation between them several weeks ago.

Jarrod: 'Are you staying for the next class? It's tap dancing.'

Jamison:'No thankfully'

Jarrod: 'Thats a shame. It's even funnier.'

{RAK}

Just another quick post! I had a lovely little surprise RAK in my post box late last week. It was unexpected and couldn't have come at a better time as I was having a crap day! It was a gorgeous little matchbook created from Basic Grey papers!

And the person responsible has THE best hand writing.
