So the new workshop Do You Remember is up and running. Read on to see how you can win a place in the class PLUS a kit..
The Support Team girls and i had a ball checking out each other's photos and chuckling at some of the stories we were remembering as we created our samples. One of Janelle's pages in her project features a photo of herself in Year 9 with a typical flowing 80's perm.
Which set us all into "Well you should have seen MY perm" talk.
And the perm photos then came emailing in thick and fast. So I thought I would do a 'perm' blog post and share a couple of my lover-ly perm photos from the 80's..
I came from the "perm" family.
My sister got a spiral perm and paid an absolute fortune for it when she was about 16. I just LOVED her perm - it looked like Young Talent Time's Dannii Minogue's perm.
Here are my cousins and me - only two of them escaped the perm but thats 'cause they were too young to get one at that stage. We were, sad but true, outside the Entertainment Centre in Sydney waiting to go into the..wait for it...RICK ASTLEY concert. Yee haaaaaaa. And check out the photo..perm city!
And you can only see a glimpse at the bottom of the photo..but I had very nice indeed orange/black chequered long shorts.
Now..i have thick hair!!!!
Very thick and thats why I have it layered now..as a kid I used to get nose bleeds because it was so thick and heavy!!! SO my mum got her friend (not a hairdresser I might add) to hack into my hair and give me a very attractive boy style when I was 9.
But thats a whole other story.
So when I got my hair permed, i was there for literally hours and hours and hours and I had several girls 'working' on me to get the rods in and several girls working on me to get them out again. And they couldn't get all the solution washed off so here I was, kneeling backwards over the basin with my butt in the air (most undignified) while they frantically tried to get the solution washed off. I was breathing in those hot vapours as they poured water all over my head and I remember not being able to breathe and feeling faint and awful!!!!!
Now Karina, if you are reading, you may remember this as you were responsible for at my very first perm!!!
I also decided NOT to have the fringe permed..I would rather tease and spray and add my own height to my very bouffant fringe!!!!!!!!
And my cousin Jacki had the short perm version. Don't we look de-lightful!!!!Plus check out my high maintenance eyebrows..thank goodness I discovered how to wax the damn things...
Plus a blast from the past..me and Ken...I had forgotten i even had this photo!!! I must have had my perm for longer than I remember as Ken was then on the scene and the perm was still happening!
Soooooo, here's the scoop...in celebration of the Do You Remember workshop and perm stories...I have a give away...
The Do You Remember class starter kits are *almost* all gone BUT I have put one kit aside to give away here on the blog PLUS the random winner will also win a place in the class. So, either share your own perm story, leave a link to your blog showcasing your own perm photos ( I would LOVE to see) OR just say hi here in the comments section.
I'll leave the comments open until later in the week and announce the winner around Friday.
Oh and if you are already booked into the class you can still enter!! I will either refund your class fee or you can have a store credit as your prize.
Good luck:)
