So that's where that photo went...

<edited to add - well they have changed the photos around on the home page of the Easter Show site yesterday so sadly, the kids photo is now gone:( I'm so glad I got that screen shot though!>

A few weeks ago now, I got an email from someone (Hi Melissa) telling me she thought my kids were on the Easter Show website!

Sure enough. There they were!!! On the home page, advertising this year's Sydney Royal Easter Show..how exciting!!!

There's about four photos that rotate on the home page so even though you see the woodchopping man when you first reach the site, the kids photo flashes up next! The kids were all excited to see themselves.

Sadly, Jamison missed out out on being in the photos and arrived for one last shot just before the photographer hurried away! And they didn't choose the photo he was in. I was disappointed.

But our, I hate being in the limelight son was quite relieved not to be included!!

Show and Tell

Just some show and tell layouts...Here's my very first 6x12inch layout (the size is inspired by Mardi who has been completing ALL of her Snippets samples for each month in this size).

Photo is of me and my Grandad and my cousin Jacki - yep, the same Jacki who now owns Maxi!

With a few simple items such as a needle and thread, felt strips and a button or two, you are on your way to stitching Janelle's basic notebook. Janelle then kicks it up a notch and shares a selection of more detailed samples to delight and inspire.

Maxi gets the spa treatment

So Maxi has settled into his new home very well indeed. He's been there for a few weeks now and has had a fun filled time getting to know his new family. He has been out and about on many outings, already found the one teeny, tiny hole in the backyard and escaped into the neighbours yard plus learned instantly how to go up and down the back steps.

Annnd he was recently treated to a bit of a shampoo and a CUT AND STYLE...

He says, "Hey, look at me..I'm having a play in this really cool place. I wonder what I am doing in here? And who's the dude?

Whoa, hang on mister. Watch where you put that hand will you!

No. No. Not the clippers. Not the clippers!

Man. What a ride.

Well that was an experience and a half.

Hey check me out. Yeah..kid..look at me. I am lookin' good!

I think that's enough clipping mate. You can put away the scissors now:)

I am one fine and dandy looking puppy. Hey, and cute kid."

I LOVE getting the updates on Maxi's adventures from my cousin Jacki!!! And I know, like all of the puppies, that they have all gone to loving homes. That's made the separation so much easier 'cause we love those little guys!

Puppy Update

Time to add some family updates I think! Firstly a puppy update! Max has now left the building. He left our home and moved in with my cousin Jacki and her family in Sydney several weeks ago.

Ken gave him his first bath so we could get him all ready for his big trip in the car to meet his new family. He needed a nice wash and snip around the eyes..

He wasn't too fussed on his shampoo and blow dry and in fact he looked hilarious when he was soaking wet. There's not much to him when he's wet (his very first bath!!) and somehow he developed a beard!

But he started to look his usual self once he began to dry!!!

and he was soon tearing around the house and rolling and shaking off the water!

We headed off the Ettalong on the Central Coast to meet up with my cous Jacki, Mattie and the kids and to deliver Max to his new family. Jacki said her family have been beside themselves waiting for the day to arrive.

Before we left, Max had a play inside and said his goodbyes..

Jacki said they have been very obsessed with getting a new puppy. They had a little kennel, puppy pillow, bowl, collar, lead, squeaky toys...all ready for "Maxi"..

Here is Maxi with his brand new family.

 

We had a nice lunch of fish and chips at Woy Woy fish co-op! Was lovely. Max was quiet..in fact he barely moved...The kids watched the pelicans being fed and it was a very pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

and then my camera battery ran out and so I took a few shots using my little Canon camera but I haven't downloaded those ones yet.

SO Maxi is now in his new home and we have just one little puppy left - Banjo!

Next bit of news!

Well THANK YOU to everyone for booking into the Create to Recreate workshop - we've had a run on bookings this afternoon which is just fabulous! Oh and thank you to those of you who donated above and beyond the class fee - thank you thank you!!

Sooo my other bit of news is that I have finished creating my samples for the Autumn Escape Convention. I am SO looking forward to going now I know my classes are sorted, samples completed and supplies worked out!! Head on over the the Autumn Escape blog and say hi to Nic and Lucy who are doing an excellent job with organising what I am sure will be a fantastic weekend. They have many little extra touches to make this weekend very luxurious and special!

So. I am teaching two workshops..this first one is...FAST, FURIOUS AND FABULOUS.

We are creating THREE layouts in the two hour time frame (which will be interesting LOL) and using the very nice indeed Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday papers plus some Sassafras Lass and Heidi Swapp bits..Lots of other elements including masking tape, woodgrain contact paper, graph paper and even Yvette's gorgeous little journaling spots make their way onto one of the layouts.

and here's the LAYOUT 2...this one has a canvas, handstitched frame and we use Sassafras Lass papers...

 

 

 

and then using our offcuts bits we will create this one..it's a VERY fast one this final layout...we get right back to basics with cutting and pasting on this one..but it's a great way to use up your offcuts:)

 

And then we have my second workshop which is called BEHIND THE SCENES..now this one was very loosely based on the Behind the Scenes workshop I have on the @Home site. BUT I have pretty much completely redesigned it..

We make a mini fabric book attached with some gold cord to our single layout...and we have a boy and girl version included in the kit..

A project I've been all consumed with...

Hi everyone..

hey, thanks to all of you for emailing me or leaving hello comments - always great to hear from you all and see who does stop by and read this thing.

So. I have been knee deep in a few projects. 

Some are still secret squirrel but I have TWO to talk about today. Firstly, you may have heard on the "scrapping vine" that I have joined forces with Jane from Crafty Matters for a very special FUND RAISING PROJECT over at the @Home site.. I think the word is out there because we have had a tremendous response to this project already without any real promotion yet! SO THANKYOU to those who have offered support already..

Annnyway, Jane approached me several weeks ago after experiencing first hand the devastation that the 2009 Victorian Bushfires have caused throughout Victoria and she wanted to do something to help raise much needed funds. Jane came up with the idea of  having both of us design a downloadable PDF sheet of exclusive designs that could be printed out and used in scrapbooking layouts and crafty projects.

And so the CREATE TO RECREATE Workshop was born. 

To purchase the PDF designs and gain access to the classroom where you will see a whole plethora (love that word) of crafty goodness from the @Home Support Team plus girls from Jane's Craft Matters Design Team showing just HOW to use the designs,

Please Note: 100% of all proceeds for this workshop will be sent to the Red Cross for their 2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

The Red Cross, while giving us approval for fundraising will only accept donations for the bushfire appeal up until the 31 March 2009 SO this class can only run until 30 March to ensure the money is collected in time. And that's not too far away so HURRY AND BOOK NOW.

Just a quick layout

I am knee deep in lots of creating at the moment. I have a few things up my sleeve - a few projects I have been involved in which I will share as soon as I can.

But last night I needed a little break from all that and so I stood at my scrapbook table and basically pulled together a few things I had sitting there already. And it was good to create without photographing every step or thinking , will this or that work for a class.

I just used what I wanted and this is what I came up with...there's not all that much to this layout and I do love the big photo of Capri and little Banjo. he's our last little puppy left and the kids and I are campaigning to keep him.

So I used some old stuff, some new things and a few smaller photos thrown in.

and finally...my very first article for Scrapbooking Creations is out - although it has been for a while so the next issue is probably already on the stands...My article is all about ART PATCHES which is based on one of the @Home classes.

Basically Art Patches are mixed media little fabric swatches of loveliness which you can then use in your layouts, projects or cards etc.  So there's lots of calico, fabrics, papers, paint, stitching and Mod Podge.

Here are my layouts from the article.  And Art Patch 1 : paint, a little home scene from patterned paper and some stitching.

Art Patch 2: a HUGE big bit of calico, painted and Mod Podged with a mega patterned paper flower - all used as a background for the layout.

Art Patch 3 : a tiny calico pocket with a patterned paper heart design, paint, tiny letter stickers - all Mod Podged and then stitched in place. Great spot for a journaling tag.

 

and last one..Art Patch 4: a calico long tag with a paper pieced gal who has very unfortunate button hands...poor dear.

And now it's almost 8am and I need to get Capri organised and out the door for the school run...Phew..feels good to get some posts happening though.
