it's a lovely day today...

Today I headed into the country to visit with Lisa and Janelle.

I bought these beautiful little treasures from Lisa..beautifully gift wrapped! Love them!!! The little owl softie is filled with sweet lavender and the teeny, tiny artwork is just so cute on it's little stand.

 

We had a fun chat and cuppa catch up and then Lisa took me to the BEST little Op Shop! It's only open two days a week and Lisa often scores wonderful pretty things from this shop and so does Janelle so I was keen to do some thrift shopping myself.

And I did.

My big scoop of the day (thank you Lisa for spotting this one because I didn't even SEE it)...a cute little mini typewriter. I have been on the look out for one for ages..and miss my prized portable typewriter I got when I was about fifteen - no one in the family remembers where that one went ..so I was THRILLED to see this one.

It was in surprisingly good condition and needs a bit of a clean up but it works and is soooo cute..and the best bit..it was a steal at $5.00!!!! Five dollars! Can you believe it.

I also bought a crocheted doily and have plans to cut each little doily out, tea stain them, dye them and use them in scrapbooking projects!!!

and some cotton lace and this cute little fabric piece that i am turning into a mini book cover...someone has painstakingly embroidered the linen in red thread! Very cool.

and the grand total for these pretties - 80c. Bargain!!!

We then moved onto the bric a brac and Lisa scored some old scout badges and I bought a big thick dictionary...price - $1.00

I spent a grand total of $6.80

Don't you just love a bargain!!!!!

 

 

Handmade Christmas 2010 - registrations open tomorrow!!

Oh it's been a BUSY day here in the Archer household after a call from the high school to say could I come and collect Jammo as he had had an accident in the classroom and split his chin open. Great.

Seems his friend was mucking around as they were leaving their classroom and pushed him. He then tripped over a chair and whacked his chin on a desk!

Thankfully..all was ok...but he is sporting a nasty bruise, swelling and wound but no stitches needed - just steri strips. And he got an early mark from school. So by the time I drove to the high school and back and called in to see my lovely nurse friend Marie who cleaned and dressed Jamison's chin and then we drove to the shops and I bought him some pies for lunch...my work day hadn't really gone to plan!

So, as my day didn't quite go to plan I am ONLY JUST now able to announce that details of the Handmade Christmas 2010 workshop are now available.

I am so excited with how this class is coming together. We have made some great things this year - if I do say so myself and I can't wait for the classroom to open..well I CAN wait because I still have a ton of handouts to type up!

Registration opens 5 November - YES THATS TOMORROW! - from 9.30am (AESDT). The class officially kicks off 22 November 2010 and runs for TEN days. That's TEN days of multiple uploads per day = a lovely lot of pretty projects!

It's that time of year again.

Christmas.

And here at Make Yourself @Home we do love a good old Handmade Christmas!

Our Christmas class is THE most popular workshop we offer all year and at this time of the year we are always buzzing behind the scenes with projects and ideas and getting ready for the BIG class.

And 2010 is no exception.

The projects are plentiful! The Support Girls' projects are flooding my inbox and I have been making, making, making stuff in my little studio each day!

 

This year I am adding plenty of sneak peeks and class info to our Facebook page so to stay in the loop and be the first "in the know" make sure you head on over to Facebook to "like" us.

Sign ups for the 2010 Handmade Christmas workshop will be from THIS FRIDAY - that's 5 NOVEMBER. The class officially launches 22 November and will run for TEN days.
